kirchoff sunday best

"And at once he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side while he sent the crowds away. After sending the crowds away he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, while the boat, by now some furlongs from land, was hard pressed by rough waves, for there was a head-wind. In the fourth watch of the night he came towards them, walking on the sea, and when the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. 'It is a ghost,' they said, and cried out in fear. But at once Jesus called out to them, saying, 'Courage! It's me! Don't be afraid.' It was Peter who answered. 'Lord,' he said, 'if it is you, tell me to come to you across the water.' Jesus said, 'Come.' Then Peter got out of the boat and started walking towards Jesus across the water, but then noticing the wind, he took fright and began to sink. 'Lord,' he cried, 'save me!' Jesus put out his hand at once and held him. 'You have so little faith,' he said, 'why did you doubt?' And as they got into the boat the wind dropped. The men in the boat bowed down before him and said, 'Truly, you are the Son of God.'" Matthew 14:22-33
I absolutely love this reading...it might be one of my all time favorites and it's mostly because of Peter. I mean seriously, can't we all relate to him?! I know many times in my life I'm all "hey God I totally trust you please allow all my wishes and dreams to come true," Then when they start to come true I'm like hooooold on a sec. We all doubt at times and the good thing about it, it's okay. As long as we pick ourselves us and start to trust again.
We were chosen to carry up the gifts in Mass and man were my kids excited! I didn't exactly see what everyone was carrying until we made it to the alter and looked down and saw Milly was carrying the GIANT basket with the money offerings. I was all 😯 THEN the priest asked her to carrying it up the stairs and place in the front of the alter. Then I was all 😧😳 She completely surprised me and walked up there with this giant basket like it was no biggie. She was so proud of herself...it was the best!

  1. Love those sweet kiddos! Our kids love bringing up the gifts too, but it is always a bit scarey I confess.

I too love the reading. Jesus is the boss!

  2. Oh how sweet, I love that they got to bring up the gifts and did such a great job! We've been asked and... We've declined!! Too many little kids, something would absolutely get dropped or someone would cry 😂 Thanks for linking up!
