how i plan and organize my life

I've mentioned before how I am a paper planner girl! I just absolutely love me a good planner and planning system. After years and years of searching I think I have found one I like. I will note that I am ALWAYS looking for a new way to plan...this is just the one I am currently using.

PLUM PAPER PLANNERS

I LOVE these planners! Like for reals love these planners. The first one I bought in August and used it about a month.

The thing was it wasn't completely working for me. It was an hourly layout which I thought I would want but the spaces to write things were SO little and when you have monster handwriting like me it just didn't totally work. Especially when I had multiple things scheduled at a time.

One thing I found on Pinterest was using the calendar view to write down what you are grateful for each day. I loved this idea!!! How cool would it be to look back and see what one thing you thought was special that day?! Sign me up!

However after doing it a few times I missed my monthly scribble scrabble. So that system wasn't really working for me either. I can literally remember sitting at my bar planning one morning when I threw a 2 year hissy fit! HA! My planner was JUST.NOT.WORKING.

Now here's the thing I LOVE about these planners...you can customize them to what fits your life! I hopped on their website and browsed all different options and created one that now works perfectly.

The difference was instead of the hour layout I did individual people layouts.

This way if we had more then one thing at a specific time it didn't matter. I also added dinner and grateful so I could have back my monthly scribble scrabble.

MY PLANNING SYSTEM

For my monthly calendar I just jot down things that are going on. It isn't pretty but it's my place to just get stuff written down.

At the beginning of each month there is an overview page. You can set goals, write down birthdays and important dates. I love this section!

On my first planner I ordered a meal planner section. I still wanted to use it because I loved it, so I just cut out the monthly pages and glued them to the front of each month. I sit down at the begnning of the month and plan out a month of meals. This can be life changing! Then for each week I just look at what I planned...write it in that week and the make my grocery list. Planning ahead is SO worth it! I've only been doing this a couple of months but I can't tell you the difference it's made.

Next on my planning system is setting up my weeks.

This is really one of my favorite things to do! Every Sunday or Monday I sit down and plan my week or even a week ahead (if I'm feeling really organized). I have all different kinds of stickers I use to make it look pretty :) All of these can be found on various Etsy shops

I like to write inspiring quotes every now and then.

Now I know that this is not for everyone. You can still find the perfect planner system and keep it simple without all the stickers...this is just something I do that I love!

I also have sections with to do lists and checklists

These come in handy and I use them ALL THE TIME! I also bought a cute bag to carry it all in at Michael's

So you are probably thinking I wasted my old planner...but I didn't! I still use it every week but it's turned into planning my day for myself.

I just jot down how I want my day to go. I am so busy that if I don't write things down my life would be insanely complicated. This system I use keeps me sane. I get things done, I'm more productive with my time, I don't forget important things for the kids or myself. I don't feel overwhelmed anymore.  It just works for me.
