kirchoff travel diaries: day 2 Giants game and exploring the city!

Our second day in SF we woke up bright and early because we had a baseball game to get to! One of our bucket list items as a family is to go to a baseball game at every baseball field in the MLB. To our luck the Giants were playing their rivals the Dodgers and they had to win to get the wild card to the playoffs. Oh and it was Vin Scully's last game as an announcer. I honestly couldn't believe that we were at such an important game. It was quite fun :)

World Series Trophies

We are by no means Giants fans (we actually prefer the Dodgers) but Cam and I decided that when we visit a field we will cheer for the home team unless of course they are playing the Rangers (or if they are the Blue Jays) ;)

 It was a COLD morning!

We got to the park really early so we could walk around and check it out. There was a really fun kid's section where Milly got to have batting practice. The lady was shocked when she hit the first pitch! That's what happens when you've been going to baseball games since you were a week old ;)

Both boys loved these Lego statues.

A Pano shot from our seats.
This park is beautiful! I would catch myself just staring out into the water watching the boats and ships pass by. It was a really fun afternoon and the Giants won which of course was exciting to watch!

After the game we had to find a Target because lucky us, our stroller broke. Oh Em Gee!!! This was quite the ordeal and took a good hour out of our day. Then over to Chinatown and Little Italy we went! A friend of mine had told me about a restaurant we had to try called The Stinking Rose and it was so good! There was garlic hung everywhere. It was a fun place!

Then we walked over a few blocks to a church I wanted to see.

It was gorgeous! But unfortunately locked so we didn't get to go in. We stopped by at a little playground to let the kids play a bit and Milly was so excited about her 2 treasures she found.

Then back up the street to get some dessert!

We decided on gelato and it was a great choice!

Chinatown was VERY strange and I didn't get any pics. Plus at this point we were in a bit of a hurry to beat the sunset so we could see a few more things! Little Italy was a beautiful neighborhood and this was one of our fav parts of the trip.
Coit Tower in the back

Transamerica Tower

We hopped in the car and headed over to the famous row of houses known as the Painted Ladies. Cam loved driving on the streets of SF! He said that was by far one of his fav things.

There was nowhere to park and really nowhere to stand since the park was being redone. We circled the block and then I just hopped out of the car for a picture. It's amazing these homes have been through many many earthquakes and are still standing!

After this little stop it was over to Lombard Street
I didn't get a picture because when we got there it was almost dark so this is a stock photo

The kids loved this street! They just thought it was so cool. After this we decided to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was late at this point so this was our last stop of the day. Before we went over the bridge we drove through the kids very first tunnel!
As a kid I use to play a game with my family where we held our breaths in the tunnel. We did that with the kids and it was so much fun! Milly said for days that this was her fav part of the trip...silly girl!

This evening ended up being one of Cameron and mine favorite parts of the trip. Driving around the city with kids, seeing new things, it was just so much fun. I love how their faces light up when they see something new. Moments like those make all the stresses of traveling worth it.

And no meltdowns today...#insertfistbump
