so there's this guy named santa claus...

The classic Santa pic has been a fav of mine since Aiden's first one when he was 10 months old.

These are all pictures of pictures so bare with me on the quality m'kay? ;)

Every year I pick out cute matching outfits and off we go to see the big man in red.
All but 3 years we have luckily sat in the same Santa's lap :)
2013 we had a photoshoot with a photographer and those are some of my fav Santa pics ever! It was at a Christmas tree farm and they are just adorable.

I seriously laugh every time I see this one ;)

After the last 2 years of Sissy loving Santa I was a little nervous about this year.

So without further ado here is this years Santa pic...

Let's just say she didn't love him but she wasn't terrified either ;) Asher told me when he asked her what she wanted she said "all the toys." So then he told Santa what she really wanted.

This year my kids Santa lists were pretty insane. Our tradition is they get 3 gifts from Santa just like Jesus got 3 gifts from the 3 wise men. The thing is the 3 things they wanted (well mostly Asher) were quite pricey. I felt a little disheartened at the thought they that think they deserve these expensive things. I mean how are we raising them? One day in December, I took Asher to the dentist. As we were talking to the hygienist, she asked Asher what he was asking Santa for. I slightly cringed as he told her thinking what is she going to think of this. To my surprise she said "well those sound like great gifts, I wish my daughter would ask for stuff like that." Then she said "you know what my daughter is asking for? For her parents to spend more time with her."

The room went silent.

First of all I couldn't believe she told me that and secondly I felt really sad. Not only for the little 9 year old girl but for her mom. How must that make her feel when all her daughter wants is time with her. After we left and got in the car Asher said "Mommy I can't believe that little girl doesn't want any toys." My kids have all of me all the time...literally. They wouldn't have a clue what it would feel like not to spend time with me. And you know what, that's exactly how I have always wanted it. My heart no longer felt defeated but thankful that my kids ask for ridiculous toys because their lives are simple, happy and fulfilled. Cameron and I have always made an effort to do family things, spend lots of time as a family and hearing from another mom with sadness in her voice, I have never been more satisfied with that decision then I am now.

"The life of a family is filled with beautiful moments...but if love is missing, joy is missing, nothing is fun. Jesus gives always gives us that love: he is it's endless source."
