{DIY Decor} Fall/Thanksgiving Decorations

This year we are hosting Thanksgiving for our families in our new home. I am so excited and cannot wait to have everyone over! I am also so excited to plan my first every Thanksgiving menu and cook my first ever turkey {more on all that to come}. So as much as I am anticipating Christmas and covering my home in Christmas decor I just cannot skip Thanksgiving this year.

I am totally okay with that though :) I love Thanksgiving and everything it represents and stands for.

So let's start with the entryway

Wreath: Target {bought many, many years ago}

Thanksgiving Sign, Wheat, Pumpkin & Raccoon: Hobby Lobby {All brought from the old house}
Flower Arrangement: TJMaxx {new; just bought this year}
Pumpkin: Target {new}
And the little Indian girl in the canoe Aiden made in preschool.

I always try to save and incorporate the kids project or art into all my holiday decor. I think it adds a little something and it makes them feel special when they see it :)

The chalkboard art idea was from Pinterest.

Now let's move into the dining area...

Try and find fun ways to spruce up areas in your house with seasonal decorations. I could just leave this area the same all year and it would be fine but changing it makes it more fun and more noticeable.

A decorating tip I picked up from I Should Be Mopping the Floor  is to use coffee cups! I found this cute owl cup a few years back and it's perfect for this time of year. This little Indian girl and pumpkin Asher made in preschool. I also change out this fake chalkboard print for every holiday. Such an easy and cost effective way to decorate.

The "Happy Thanksgiving" sign I picked up off the dollar aisle at Target and the pumpkin is from TJMaxx. I wanted to display my cake holder here...mostly because it's pretty big and I don't have anywhere else to put it...but wasn't sure what to put in it.

Then I remembered that I had picked up these napkins and plates on clearance at Michael's and voila!

Moving into the living room...

Decorating this mantle has been so much fun for me. Like I've said before, at the old house our TV hung above the mantle so I never really could decorate it. Believe me that I'm taking full advantage of my new mantle ;)

The pumpkins I picked up at TJMaxx; Banner off the Target dollar aisle; Signs from an instagram store called Southern Junk. She seriously has the cutest stuff!

The fall trees I got at a cute little antique shop here in town; pumpkin from Target and wheat from Hobby Lobby {from many, many years ago}.

I love all the holidays and changing seasons and most of all love taking the time to transform my home into a place that reflects that. Even if you just change a few things around your house I promise it will make a big difference!
